Curvy Wood.-2013
I particularly like this cup because of its shape and the way the glaze turned out. I did not intend for the glaze to look like wood, but it sure does resemble it. I was amazed how similar it looked to my wooden kitchen table at home. I couldn't believe it came from a glaze. I like its shape because the wood is more of a manly quality, but the womanly curves gives it a more feminine feel to it.
Braided Contrast Mug.-2013
This is, in my opinion, the best mug I've made. I love how the bloody red contrasts the sky blue. Plus, instead of adding a cookie cutter handle on my mug, I braided my clay to make it a little more intresting. The other thing I like about this mug is that it's not as small as my other mugs usually turn out. It's a pretty decent size.
Thick Rainbow.-2013
I want to start off by saying this was one of my first pieces of the semester, it ended up being really thick and heavy. But I really love the indentations going all the way up and around and how they mess with the glaze and make different, unexpected colors pop out.
Tri-Primaries.-2013
I REALLY like the way these turned out. They are candle holders. I'm going to take a wick and wax and melt the wax into these jars to make candles. The yellow one actually turned out with a lot of texture and speckles. The red one is a very deep color and very smooth, and the blue has an interesting shape and it has the lines as texture and it makes the glaze add pops of color. Like I said, I think these are adorable and will make pretty gifts.
Washed Ashore-2013
This is a painting I did just because I wanted to play with different acrylic techniques. I really like the dry-brushing but I wish the painting itself looked a little more realistic. This isn't a painting anyone would put up in a house, it was more for myself. I love painting, and I love painting things that involve texture.
Playing Coldplay-2013
This is a rather small painting I did in order to practice distance and point of view. I like the way it turned out, once again I wish it was a little more realistic and I wish my mistakes weren't so clear but other than those things, I am proud of it. The reason this painting is called "Playing Coldplay" is because those are the lyrics that are modge-podged onto my painting, which in turn, does give it a more material v. cartoon-feel.
Inspiration-2013
I recently painted this because I wanted something to take with me to college to keep me on track and reaching my goals. Once I found a quote that I enjoyed and felt like it would keep me going, I started planning out how I wanted to lay it out on the canvas. I can't wait for college and I know this painting will help in keeping me motivated to keep trying even when things get hard.
Polka-Glass & Womanly-Glass -2013
I got the idea of painting glass ware when I was on Pinterest looking for inspiration. None the less, my family enjoys a good glass of...orange juice...every once in awhile and I knew these would be great accessories at the cottage. I thought the marbles and boobs on the wine glass added a humorous touch to the woman and my mom thought the same. I wish that I would have had taller wine glasses in order to fit the entire head of the woman on the glass.
Stone Potholder-2013
I thought this was an elegant potholder, yet it was simple to make. By cutting a circular shape of out black felt and then hot-gluing small pebbles in place, this crafty idea came to life in just a day or two. I would like to make more because of how well it turned out. They would match any kitchen and keep hot pots from burning counter tops. Next time, I will watch out to not get the glue every where though, because it's a pain in the neck to pick off.
Bambi In Love-2013
I love drawing because (as cheesy as it sounds) it expresses my relationship so well. It's a charcoal drawing of Bambi from the Disney movie in a specific scene when he first meets his future "lover". I don't work with charcoal often so it was definitely challenging at first to try and get the shading just right an I had to make several adjustments along the way. All in all, I think it's an adorable drawing and I wish I could look at it all day long!
